Door to door simulator
A video game where the player is a door to door salesman. Heck, let’s make it personalized to something I have experience with— home security systems.
The player does door to door sales, offering a home security system. The player can choose the marketing strategy— FREE (for 12 months), low monthly price, etc.
After getting a sale, the player becomes a technician where they have to do really shitty work, terribly run wires, cut holes in people’s walls, etc. install the security panel, the sensors, and then test it.
Random events are
- Old lady falls and can’t get up and sues because you forgot to test the system and her emergency pendant didn’t work
- You bust someone’s front door and have to pay for a new door because you drilled the hole wrong
Sneakernet
A low cost, human powered IoT network.
We offer a Sneakernet software stack that our customers integrate with their dataloggers. We pay Gigworkers to physically go to the dataloggers and retrieve data via NFC/Wi-Fi/LoRa/BTLE/etc. Wi-Fi probably makes the most sense because of it’s ubiquity and range.
The cost per data retrieval is market based. A sensor that gets visited often pays a low fee. A sensor in the boonies that is rarely visited pays a high fee. Data to transfer could be factored in as well. For example, the customer’s data on their datalogging device has gone awhile since being fetched, and 1GB of data has accumulated. This node would offer a higher price for someone to retrieve and sync the data.
The problem we are solving is low cost data synchronization. Starlink/2G/3G/4G/5G might be too expensive for some customers, but they still want to retrieve data from a remote device every now and again. The customer can set a budget, say 5 a month, and the sneakernet gigworkers can do work to retrieve the data claim that fee. If it’s too low and nobody wants to retrieve the data, the monthly budget rolls over to the next month which will eventually incentivize a worker.
The sneakernet workers can automate their part. Say they are driving past where the datalogger is at, and their phone just automatically grabs the data from the datalogger and uploads it to the internet. It’s passive income for them— they just have to keep the app running.
Because of the low value transactions, I think this is a good use case for Lightning Network.

A custom modified receipt printer which prints placeholders for your card collections. An integrated screen/UI lets you pick a set that you want to collect. Pick the set and click print. The user then takes the receipt paper and cuts along the indicated cut lines and places the placeholder into their card binder.

Selling features: Thermal paper ink doesn’t bleed like inkjet so it can’t stain your card binder.
I could sell this device to game stores.

Bringing back the “everything is a file” to youtube. The way it works is it’s a program (docker container?) that runs on your computer. If there are video files, it runs a script to get metadata (title, description). The file is uploaded to youtube and published.
