Mouse started her stream today and I made a clip of her saying something funny. Shortly after, I see I have a “Clip Leader 1” badge next to my username in chat.
I’ve never seen this badge before, so I google it. I find this document detailing it. https://www.streamdatabase.com/twitch/global-badges/clips-leader/1
I see the reference tweet. https://x.com/Twitch/status/1915810166991126883
Apparently it’s a new feature twitch rolled out. I’m shocked and surprised that I’m the channel’s top clipper. Yeah, I clip a lot, probably 3 per stream, but there’s no way I’m the top clipper!
I’m assuming it’s because I was one of the first people to make a clip after twitch rolled out this new feature. There’s no way I’m top clipper for long! But at this moment, it made me smile.
edit
2 hours into stream, it seems my assumption was correct, I was only Clip Leader 1 because I was early to stream and made a few clips before other top clippers arrived.
Later on, I saw myself get Clip Leader 2 badge, then Clip Leader 3 badge even later. I made about 6-7 clips at a relaxed pace this stream and it makes sense that I’m no longer Clip Leader 1— I have to believe that there is someone out there, (maybe a bot) who is clipping every 5 seconds!
