Ok so I’m at the laundromat again and I’m thinking of funny memes. I love this radio station playing oldies. Oh yeah it’s the music that makes me happy, not memes.

They keep this laundromat so clean! I guess it’s new and all so they want to keep it nice. I definitely would want to do that if I owned the place.

They must have daily checklist of stuff that they do. One of those things is the morning clean. Different attendant today. A guy. He’s going HAM on the machine cleaning.
I’m just realizing that sometimes, people over optimize. You know how there’s a new iPhone ever year, a new this or a that every year. Upgrades. Improvements. Performance increases.
Credit cards with a chip are supposedly a security upgrade to mag stripes, but I think the magstripe is a better UX and the chips are worse. Why? You never leave a magstripe card behind in the machine, but you do live a chip card behind. The magstripe reader doesn’t captivate your card, but a chip card does.
Maybe that’s why NFC is a big thing now. Tap to pay. Perhaps the NFC cards are the best design we’ve had yet. UX wise, I mean. I’m sure there are all sorts of security debates on NFC, but I’m strictly talking about UX.
What other examples are there of this? None than I can think of right now, but I know there are some. I’ll think of more later.
Right now it’s 7:43AM on Thursday Feb 19. Once again, I’m the only customer here. I was here on Tuesday and on that day it was the same deal. Today I’m feeling a lot more relaxed. I’m a pro at this point. LUL ok maybe not a pro, but definitely no longer a beginner. I was a little slow on setting up the machine because the menus are still unfamiliar. The menus here at 123Laundry have a lot of text descriptions about what each feature does.
Today I did regular > warm > medium and it was 7? I forgot. Last time I did the same thing program but on the 4 load machine. Today I’m trying the 3 load machine. Last time I had two quilts and I wanted them to be able to tumble freely. I probably could have crammed it all into a 3 load machine, but when I tried to close the latch, the handle was really tight. Today I realize that the handle is always tight, even if the machine is empty.
cool 89.5 plays gospel music every sunday morning at 8 apparently. Now they’re playing Chariot of fire haha such a banger.
The sun is blinding me again. Next time maybe I’ll bring a ballcap. That would help with my anxiety too. My senses are way too strong. My brain is taking in way too much information and there are so many sensations which I interpret as threats. Earplugs always calm me down. I wish I had some good earbuds.
Apparently there’s a dev community that is jailbreaking apple airpods to make them work on Linux and Android. Airpods are apparently some of the best earphones in terms of noise cancellation. Heck, I know of at least 1 story where a young woman died while wearing Airpods because she ran in front of a speeding police car with sirens that she couldn’t hear.
I wonder if anyone replied to my stackernews comments. I’ll check later. Right now I’m enjoying typing.
Actually I think I’ll try working on some backend code. I set up Windmill a couple weeks ago and that means I can work remotely and my dev environment is just there! Technically only half of my app is on windmill. My frontend code is all SvelteKit in a repo on my desktop and the changes haven’t been committed lately.

Ok I’m back. I probably spent 5 minutes there before realizing that the sveltekit app, or rather Drizzle ORM is what sets schema. I need to make a schema change to add a new table, but I can’t do that here. ALso I realize that I have to be calm and focused to do good work, and I am only sorta calm and there are tons of distractions. I gotta do this from home.

Sitting here at 123Laundry, I’m looking at the snack machine and thinking about grabbing some peanut M&Ms. Nah, I think I’ll go to Yokes instead.
I wish I didn’t have to worry about my bicycle. (there is no bike lock) I’m gonna risk it and go pee.
I went pee and I was unsurprised to see a very clean bathroom. Yeah, this would be 5 stars if they had a bikelock. I gotta deduct 1 for the lack of.
Maybe I should get some airtags and put them on my bicycle. I’ve been looking at this 4 pack of airtag compatible trackers for the last 3 days and I just can’t pull the trigger! It’s $25 and I am having trouble committing to that. I think I’d rather just buy a new bicycle if mine gets stolen than have to track down the thief, demand the bike back, call police, pursue legal, etc. ahhhhg. I wish they just had a bike lock, that would really put my mind at ease.
I wonder if there is a bike lock nearby.

My laundry is drying. It’s on high heaet but I realized that was probaly a mistake. I’ve got a pair of merino wool socks in there, and they’re supposed to be air dried or tumble dried on low.
I’m usually too embarrassed to fold my laundry at the laundromat. Last tuesday I did it though, and I was fine. I think I will be brave and do it this time too. I will fold my laundry while trying to conceal my manties lol.
I’m surprised that I’m the only customer here. I guess it’s still early.
I hope the snow melts. It’s really cold today. I had to ride super slow on the way over here because I was afraid I would slip and fall. I already had one nasty fall this winter— I’d rather not have another one.
I wonder if I have money on my EBT card. I want to go grocery shopping after this. Maybe Safeway today. But safeway is always a gamble. Lots of people with bad habits shop there, and I am going to have a bag of laundry that people might want to get into.
Nah, probably not. I’m probably worried for nothing. Nobody wants to get into a camo bag that could be any junk. My clothes are all old and tattered anyway so who would want to steal that? My laptop is the real thing to worry about, but it will be in the bottom of the basket underneath the laundry bag. Ahg, I need a front basket for groceries. If I go grocery shopping, I’ll get like 1-3 things and be overloaded.

I wish there was a bike lock here. Yeah I’m a weirdo who rides a bike to do laundry, but it would really be nice to be able to lock up instead of having to constantly keep tabs on my bicycle outside while I’m washing clothes.
The free wifi is so nice. I brought my laptop and was able to do some work to pass the time while I waited for clothes to wash and dry.
The restroom was clean and well stocked with toilet paper soap and paper towels.
