I’m here at Dragoncon. It’s day 2, Saturday, and I’m having a good time. Yesterday, I arrived in the afternoon and walked to each of the hotels, getting an idea where everything was at. I caught an Electronic Frontier Foundation panel about automatic licence plate reader cameras and their concern about the lack of government policy. I thought their proposed solutions of limiting the amount of time gov can use the gathered data fell short. It’s a band-aid on a gaping wound that is the monopolization of force. (my solution is peaceful dissolution of federal government, and privatization of any of any necessary functions. Businesses are more accountable than government and can and should fail)
K anyway, dragon con is amazing and there are some amazing cosplays. The architecture of the big hotels here (Marriot especially) is breathtaking and seems impossible.
