I had an idea of a challenge to try. Don’t pay full price for anything. That is not my usual way of living, but I figured it’s worth a try to cut down on expenses. The Never Full Price Challenge means no Amazon shopping, no non-discount groceries, no new clothes, no fast food… The goal of this challenge is to see how far I can go to save major $$$. Let’s see how this 2 week challenge goes!
Purchase Log
๐ด FAIL ๐ด — Sunday — Movie & soft drink (paid full price)
๐ด FAIL ๐ด — Monday — Peanut snack from vending machine. (paid full price)
๐ถ Ehhh ๐ถ — Tuesday — Groceries (bought some food on discount)
๐ด FAIL ๐ด — Wednesday — Gasoline (paid full price)
๐ด FAIL ๐ด — Wednesday — Downtown Parking (paid full price)
๐ด FAIL ๐ด — Thursday — Movie rental (paid full price)
๐ด FAIL ๐ด — Friday — Costume purchase (paid full price)
This is really difficult! Grocery stores seem to be the easiest place to not pay full price because of produce and bread that is about to go bad, but everything else in the store is difficult to see if it is on sale. Some items I just have to buy whether they are on sale or not. Coupons must be the way to do this correctly, but I rarely end up with coupons. So far, this experiment is not going well!
UPDATE
Second week was another fail. Only thursday was a success, where I bought clothes from two thrift shops. I will revise the parameters of this living frugal challenge and try again in the future!
